Description

Despite the rumors to the contrary, the uptake of "coax-free" facilities has been slower than many proponents have forecast. That situation may (finally) be on the cusp of a major change, as media transport was only one of several technologies required to make a coax-free world possible.

Even with IP media transport, the system timing and control was frequently not IP-based. In addition to that, the media carried was still "coax-style". What has happened in SMPTE (and other SDOs) to enable the long forecast change?

This talk with delve into those topics (and some others) and provide some updates on current standardization efforts in this area.
